Operation Generosity: Love in Action

In 2020, an anonymous donor presented First Christian Church, Macomb, Illinois, with a generous monetary gift. The only stipulation was that the money be used to benefit McDonough County. In response, the church created a project they named Operation Generosity.

The mission was to get the whole congregation engaged in the spirit of giving. People who had recently given time, talent or money (givers) to the church were invited to participate in the project. Adult participants were given $500 and encouraged to choose how to use the money. Children were given a smaller amount to give away.

Operation Generosity: Love in Action details what happened when more than $60,000 was set loose amongst the congregation. Programs and organizations received donations. Families and individuals in need received a boost. Strangers were surprised by random acts of kindness. Gratitude was expressed from one person to another with a monetary gift.

A lot of love was put into action in Phase 1, but it didn't stop there. Readers will also learn about the final phase of Operation Generosity, Phase 2, which began in the Spring of 2022.
